Fall is exploding with sexy, sassy, and on-trend short hairstyles. Celebrities like Maggie Gyllenhaal, Scarlett Johansson, Winnie Harlow, and Zendaya (to name a few) are sporting pixie cuts, lobs, bobs, and more.  These short cuts look great with everything from tees to red carpet style.

Think how amazing Olivia Palermo looks with her lob and diamond earrings. Or Zoe Kravitz with her platinum crop standing in front of a step. It’s enough to make you chop your hair. Fortunately, Karmin has all the hair tools to help you mimic these celeb styles or create a look all your own.

Bobs and Lobs Get Remixed

Bobs this fall have gotten bolder, bigger, and shinier.

If you can’t bear to part with too much of your hair, ease into the style with a long bob, or “lob.” Here are some of the hottest fall trends for both styles.

1. Chin Length Sleek Bob
Less Anna Wintour, more Emma Stone. The chin length bob can be worn with or without bangs.

How to style it at home:

Using a hair dryer on low, make sure the nozzle is in the horizontal position, and slowly dry hair.

Use a round brush inwards if you have straight hair. If you don’t have straight hair, then follow up after blow drying with the  Karmin Salon Series Hair Straightener to flat iron tresses for a silky style.

2. Bob and Bun

For those days when one feels Boho. Super easy to do and very modern, too. Looks great with a bob or lob.

Use the Karmin Salon Series Ultra Lightweight Professional Ionic Dryer and a round brush to dry hair. Gather some front and side pieces of the hair and arrange a loose, messy bun on top. Secure with bobby pins to create a fun half-up, half-down look that goes from yoga class to date night.

If you have a lob, and not a bob, try creating two little mini-buns on either side of the top of your head.

3. Wavy lob

If you have a lob and want movement in your hair, try a wavy lob like Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kate Hudson, or Jourdan Dunn.

For all-over waves, use the Karmin Hair Dryer  and its diffuser. Lightly scrunch hair while diffuse drying it. If you’d like, you can use the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Clipless Curling Wand to add defined face-framing waves.

Jourdan Dunn’s lob is straight with a few waves here and there. To achieve the mix of straight and wavy, blow dry hair straight with a flat brush. Then select a few sections of hair and make them wavy using the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Clipless Curling Wand.

4. Lob and Long Bangs

Riri and a few other celebs have opted for a lob with very long bangs. The trick to this look is to blow hair dry with a flat brush. The bangs are long and stick straight. To achieve that perfection, use a straightening tool like the Karmin Titanium flat iron on the bangs.

5. Volume Lob

Zendaya took a page out of the 60s and re-invented the “poof.” This is a voluminous lob. It’s been turned to 11. This lob has lots and lots of waves.

Do it at home by blow drying hair with a large round brush. Divide hair into sections. Using the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Clipless Curling Wand, curl each section, and twist the section. Then loosely pin each section to the head. When hair is cool, slowly unpin and untwist each section. Flip head over and lightly shake head as the waves and curls will move.  Finger comb hair into place. Then spritz a finishing spray to keep hair in place.

Cropped With Attitude

Pixie cuts have come a long way from Twiggy and Mia Farrow’s look. Now, pixies are long in front, or long on top, or any way you like them.

6. Long in Front Pixies

Scarlett Johansson’s wearing a pixie that has long, messy bangs. The bangs go every which way. Instead of looking ewwy, it looks sexy.

Here’s the secret. The bangs aren’t as “messy” as they look. It seems counter-intuitive, but it’s not. Use the Karmin Titanium flat iron on the bangs. After the hair is cooled, then use pomade on the strands to give them direction and staying power.

7. Satin Crop

Actress Michelle Williams crop looks so shiny and sleek. How does she do it? She uses a flat iron, like the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Hair Styling Iron to achieve that look.

8. Classic Pixie

Model Winne Harlow wears her pixie the way Audrey Hepburn wore hers.

Simply use a hair dryer on low and let your hair dry slowly.

9. Flapper Pixie

Ruth Negga and Andrea Riseborough have been sporting the flapper pixie. It’s an updated version of the famous flapper pincurl hairstyle.

To do it at home, lightly spray a lightweight styling gel on hair. Comb through from roots to ends. Next, take bobby pins or hair clips to hold pin curls or mini waves in place. Using the diffuser attachment on the  Karmin Hair Dryer blow dry hair. After hair is dry, spritz on a finishing spray, and then take out the clips or bobby pins. Viola! The flapper look is back with a twist.
