Have you noticed that the plates on your Karmin Flat Iron do not completely touch when you clamp it closed? This is not a defect, this is part of the design, and here is why;
1. Plates Expand with Heat
When your flat iron is cool you will definitely notice the gap between the plates. As it heats up, the plates will expand and the gap will become less, however it will still be there. Our flat irons are designed with floating plates so the space is needed to allow the plates to move during styling.
2. Safer Styling
The small gap between your plates provides safer styling as it will not pull or tug on your hair which can cause damage. The heat is evenly distributed through the plates and you will find that with a gentle clamping together of the plates your hair fills that gap so you do not need excessive pressure or touching plates to straighten the hair.
3. Perfect Curls
Another reason our plates do not touch is so that you can create simple, seamless curls. If you find creating curls with your flat iron to be a challenge it may be that you are squeezing the plates too tight. They need the space to allow the hair to move smoothly through the plates as you twist so we made this easier by creating our plates with the gap for a versatile tool.
